How care works

Your spine care journey

  1. 1

    Consultation and examination

A detailed conversation about your symptoms, followed by a physical and neurological examination.

  2. 2

    Imaging review

X-ray, MRI or CT images are reviewed when they are needed to understand the cause of your symptoms.

  3. 3

    Non-surgical care first

Treatment often begins with non-surgical options such as physiotherapy, activity advice and medicines.

  4. 4

    Surgery when appropriate

If surgery is considered, the options, expected benefits and risks are discussed openly before any decision.

  5. 5

    Recovery and rehabilitation

Follow-up visits and guided rehabilitation support your return to daily activities.

Every treatment plan is decided together with you after an examination.

Questions

FAQ

All questions
Will I need surgery for a herniated disc?
Usually not. Most people with a herniated disc improve with time, activity advice, physiotherapy and medicines. Surgery is discussed when leg pain or nerve symptoms do not settle, or when there is significant weakness.
What is a lumbar discectomy?
It is an operation to remove the part of a herniated disc that presses on a nerve in the lower back. A microdiscectomy does this through a small incision using a microscope. Your surgeon will explain whether it suits you, the expected recovery and the risks.
How long is recovery after a discectomy?
Recovery is different for everyone. Many people walk on the day of surgery and increase activity gradually over the following weeks. Your surgeon and physiotherapist will give you a personal plan for work, driving and exercise.
What should I bring to my first visit?
Please bring identification, any MRI, CT or X-ray images and their reports, and a list of your current medicines.
Can my MRI be reviewed before I visit?
Yes. Book an online imaging review and share your images and reports. The doctor will explain what they show and whether an examination is needed.
Can I cancel or change my appointment?
Yes. Sign in to the patient portal to cancel or reschedule, or call the clinic.
